First Winsford Artisan Market a great success
The first Winsford Artisan Market that took place in the town centre on Saturday has been deemed a great success by market traders, local businesses and visitors. Cheshire West and Chester Council can now confirm that the Artisan Market will take place on the first Saturday of every month.
The market, organised by D&D Artisan Markets and the Council markets team, saw hundreds of visitors descend on the town centre, who visited craft, niche, produce, cakes and hot food stalls, and taking advantage of outside seating in the public square to enjoy the thriving and bustling atmosphere.
Visitors were also keen to experience the great variety and expertise of stalls that are based permanently in Winsford Market, and the shops and cafes in and around the town centre.
Retailers around the town were able to take advantage of the increased footfall brought by the market, with comments from staff including:
Pound Store:
“Footfall massively increased with lots of new people from the surrounding areas, great to see the town thriving.”
The Works:
“There was a great atmosphere in the town, which I have not seen for many years. Great to see new faces coming into the town.”
Als Plaice:

Bridgford’s:

Councillor Nathan Pardoe, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration and Digital Transformation, said:
The feedback we have had from customers, traders and town centre businesses alike about Winsford’s first Artisan Market has been incredible. Cake traders sold out in an hour, and some traders even said that it was the best market they had ever had. I am delighted to confirm that the Artisan Market will become a regular event, taking place on the first Saturday of each month. The Artisan Market is only possible because of Cheshire West & Chester Council’s purchase and regeneration of Winsford Town Centre - the biggest investment in Winsford Town Centre since the 1960s. The Artisan Market and other events will continue to bring our new public square to life and drive business to town centre retailers and traders. It is great to hear that indoor market traders and retailers around the town benefitted from more footfall in the town centre – one trader told us it was so busy that it was like Christmas. Winsford needs a better indoor market, and this additional footfall is a positive start ahead of the soon to be announced improvements to Winsford’s indoor market that will help our independent traders to thrive,
The next Winsford Artisan Markets will take place on:
- Saturday 5 July
- Saturday 2 August
- Saturday 6 September
- Saturday 4 October
- Saturday 1 November
Winsford’s indoor Market is open every Monday, Thursday and Saturday, 9am to 4pm (except Bank Holidays). The market offers preloved vinyl records, jewellery, watches and repairs, pet stall, school/workwear and handcrafted gifts and homeware, campervan accessories, barbers, beauty and haberdashery, cakes, eggs, deli and a traditional greengrocer and market café.
