Improved bus service between Ellesmere Port and Neston launching this month
An enhanced Service 23 bus route will launch on 30 March, providing more frequent and convenient travel options for residents travelling between Ellesmere Port and Neston.
Operated by Stagecoach on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council, the upgraded service is funded by the UK Government through the Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan and aims to strengthen public transport links for local communities.
Councillor Karen Shore, the Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Transport and Highways, said:
Service 23 has always been a vital lifeline for communities between Neston and Ellesmere Port. It supports essential journeys to work, education, shopping and medical appointments, and plays a particularly important role in helping young people travel to and from school or college. As part of a pilot scheme, we are increasing the frequency and refining the route to make the service more reliable and more useful to more people. The revised route will run hourly between Ellesmere Port and Neston via Hooton and Willaston, with a significantly improved loop serving Regent Street and Cheshire College, as well as new links from Whitby and Overpool Road. We hope these enhancements will attract more passengers and help secure the long term sustainability of this important service.
Passengers are advised to check the updated timetable, as both departure times and sections of the route have changed.
The move to Stagecoach’s ticketing system will also give passengers access to a wider range of network ticket options.
