Move joyfully this July in Cheshire West and Chester

Mum Leanne proves rollerblading isn't just for the kids as she puts Etta and Charlotte, both seven, through their paces.
Residents are being invited to step away from the sofa and move in a way that makes them feel great this summer.
During July, organisations across Cheshire West and Chester are working together to inspire residents to include more movement in their lives, with an emphasis on fun.
The Joyful Movement campaign launched in summer 2024 and is taking place for the second time this July.
It is organised by the Eat Well Be Active partnership, which includes Cheshire West and Chester Council, Active Cheshire, the NHS, Brio Leisure, the School Sports Partnership, Her-Place Charitable Trust, Fallen Angels, the Mersey Forest and more.
Cllr Lisa Denson, the Council’s Cabinet Member for A Fairer Future (Poverty, Public Health and Mental Health), said: “In last year’s Joyful Movement campaign we asked people to share their photos and videos of the movement they do that’s easy and makes them happy – and we were overwhelmed with amazing examples.
“There was dancing on stage and in living rooms, riding bikes and scooters, walking, horse riding, table tennis, football, kitchen hockey, litter picking – and so many more.
The Joyful Movement campaign is all about those little things we can all do because it’s fun and makes you smile. The idea is to share these simple things, inspire others and celebrate it.
Mike Watson, CEO at Active Cheshire said: “The Joyful Movement Campaign is a great example of partners across the system working together to encourage people to move more.
“We know there are many barriers to being active and increasing movement through short bursts of fun activity can only be a good thing.
“We hope that once again partners and residents really get behind the Joyful Movement Campaign, supporting people who live, work and visit Cheshire West to be active, regardless of age or ability.”
During the campaign the Eat Well Be Active partners will be sharing photos and videos of Joyful Movement on social media to inspire others.
