New primary school named as Kings Moat Community Primary School as work progresses on its construction
The new primary school under construction on Moat Lane has been designed to serve the Kings Moat housing development off Wrexham Road and is currently expected to open in September 2026.
The school has been commissioned by Cheshire West and Chester Council to be able to open initially as a 210 place (one form entry) mainstream primary school, with the flexibility to add a further 105 places (half form entry) in the future as the housing development progresses and the pupil place need increases.
Kings Moat Community Primary School will sit centrally within the development with new homes surrounding the school and located close to the new community playing fields, 3G pitches and the new public park planned for the area.
The school will be run by the Sandstone Trust following their appointment in February; Jason Lowe, CEO of the Sandstone Trust said:
Naming the school Kings Moat seemed logical and the natural choice to reflect its location within the new housing development. It’s been great to see the work progressing on site and we look forward to moving in and working with the Council’s Education Team to open the school next year. We are also eager to hear from the local community about their priorities for the new school and to make sure the school’s identity is representative of their views. Please take part in our consultation which runs until 13 July.
Councillor Adam Langan, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said:
The growing development at Kings Moat will soon have their own dedicated primary school which will become a welcome addition to the whole community, and we look forward to working in partnership with the Sandstone Trust in establishing the new school.
Chris Wynne, Managing Director at Wynne Construction said:
We are thrilled to have been appointed to design and build the Kings Moat Community Primary School. With our expertise in constructing educational facilities, I’m confident we will deliver high quality results whilst giving back to the community, and we look forward to welcoming apprentices and work experience students on site to give them a hands-on experience in the construction industry as part of our social value initiatives.
