Open Day at the Lache Community Centre 15 May
An open day on 15 May at Lache Community Centre, 1.30pm to 4pm will celebrate the completion of the first phase of its re-development and the opening of Café au Lache.
The first phase of building improvements funded with support from the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund and Cheshire West and Chester Councils Climate change fund includes a modernised function room, new kitchen and servery, lobby area, installing CCTV and new energy saving technologies to improve the environmental footprint and reduce energy costs
Councillor Nathan Pardoe, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration and Digital Transformation said:
The first phase of the Lache Community Centre refurbishment is complete and has turned a space that was already loved and cherished by Lache residents into something even better. It’s the same welcoming and friendly space, remaining flexible in its use, but is now fit for the future and includes a new café - something that residents were particularly keen to see.
Lache Community centre is a hub to many services from tea dances, Balmoral Morris dancers and Karate, mental health counselling, gardening club, computer club and friendly coffee mornings. It is also a venue that many hire for family events. The refurbishment grew from the need to make space more flexible as well as bringing up to modern standards.
Added Councillor Pardoe:
I hope there’s a good turnout on the Open Day, it’s the first chance for residents to see the improved space, sample the new café menu and see the progress that has been made. Thanks to all the residents and groups who shaped the plans, and to the Council staff, contractors and partners who turned the community vision into reality.
Everyone is welcome at Café au Lache which plans to open initially Monday to Friday 8.45am to 4pm. But they are also happy to provide catering for any event booked in the centre. Email: admin@cafelache.co.uk for enquiries.
Information on hiring the facilities for parties, events, meetings or activities can be requested by emailing: lachecc@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk
The refurbishment of Lache Community Centre, to enhance facilities for local people is one of four projects on the Lache Action Plan, endorsed by the Council in November 2023. Other projects included the new children’s play area, opened last July and the re-development of the Backies as a green- space for wildlife and for residents to enjoy.
