Pride in Place is a UK-wide grant programme that is investing up to £20 million over 10 years in Blacon.

To date information about Pride in Place has been shared with residents and they were invited to complete a survey to share ideas about the priorities for the community. Several schools and local community groups have also been engaged to encourage residents to have their say in shaping priorities There has also been a local drop in event to listen to ideas.

To drive the programme a Neighbourhood Board for Blacon is being set up and will be responsible for further engagement to deliver a plan for priorities and how funding will be spent. Made up of local people, the board will bring together residents, local businesses, grassroots campaigners, workplace representatives, faith, and community leaders and those with a deep connection to their area.

Residents know the changes they would like to see in their community which is why community representation will be critical to the delivery of the programme. Decision-making will sit with the representative Neighbourhood Board, giving people the power locally to shape the future of their area.

Applications are now open to represent Blacon as Chair of the Neighbourhood Board. The Chair will lead engagement that reaches out into the community, to ensure decision-making is community-led and act as the area champion.

Applications to Chair the Neighbourhood Board are now open to residents or those with connections to the Blacon area, submissions should include a CV plus 500 words supporting the application.

The closing date is Wednesday 27 May, 2026.

The objectives of the programme are to build stronger communities, create thriving places and empower people to take back control.

The Blacon Neighbourhood Board is expected to be finalised by July with a regeneration plan being submitted in the Autumn ready for delivery from Spring 2027.
