Work to begin to upgrade traffic lights at junction in Hartford
Cheshire West and Chester Council will start to upgrade traffic signals at the junction of A559 Chester Road and Greenbank Lane in Hartford from Monday 21 July.
The current traffic lights have old-fashioned tungsten bulbs in that have reached the end of their serviceable life.
The work will see the existing traffic signal heads removed and a new, low voltage system installed.
As part of the scheme some of the underground ducting will also be replaced and the new signal heads and poles will be mounted in special sockets to make replacing them much quicker. Crossing points will be re-kerbed and the paths and road will also be resurfaced as part of the work.
The work will take place over the school summer holidays with the new set of signals installed and ready for when the schools return for the new school year.
During the work a set of temporary traffic signals will control the junction with pedestrian crossing facilities also provided.
The Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and Highways, Councillor Karen Shore said:
We appreciate that there will be disruption during these essential works but we have scheduled them during the school holidays to keep this at a minimum. We’d like to thank everyone for their patience while we make these improvements.
