Graffiti and vandalism
We class graffiti as something which has been written, painted/sprayed or scratched into a surface. We remove graffiti on property owned by us, for example:
- benches
- bins
- buildings
- subways
We don't remove it if it's on private property.
How long does it take to be removed?
We don't have set schedules for when we remove graffiti as it depends on the type. If it is offensive it will be removed within 24 hours. By offensive we mean graffiti that may be racist, homophobic or abusive. We may also pass this information to the police.
All other type of graffiti may take up to six months to be removed.
Fly posting
We are responsible for the removal of fly posting in public spaces. This is where posters or stickers are stuck onto a wall or other public area. These are illegal and are usually used for advertising. It can make the area look untidy and can cause litter.
How long does it take to be cleared?
We will aim to clear any posting within 10 working days following on from a report. However this can sometimes take longer if further investigation is required.
