Energy rebate - why you might not qualify
If you have attempted to enter your details on the energy rebate form and you received a message saying that your account number is not valid there may be several reasons as to why:
- your Council Tax account number is a 9 digit reference beginning with 2, please ensure that you check your bill and use the same account reference number from that
- please do not try to use this form for discretionary energy rebate applications, a new form will be available for those cases in the next couple of weeks
- properties that have had a Council Tax band reduction to A to D after 1 April 2022 will not be eligible even if this is retrospective
- if you are paying by Direct Debit we may have already paid your £150 payment to the bank account where we take your Direct Debit payments, please check your bank statement
- we can only pay the £150 rebate to residents who were occupying a property on 1 April 2022, no payment is due on empty properties or second homes
- we can not pay the energy rebate to Houses of Multiple Occupation or where a company, an organisation or business pays the Council Tax
- only one energy payment is due per property so if it has already been paid then no payment can be made
- if you have moved into the property before 1 April 2022 and are awaiting a Council Tax bill please wait until you receive the bill before making an application
- please do not reapply if you haven’t heard about your energy rebate application, we will let you know if you are eligible when we have checked your application - duplicate applications will slow any payment made
If after checking the above list you still think you should be eligible for the energy rebate then please let us know. Once you have completed the form we will contact you to discuss further.
