School admission arrangements

Object to school admissions arrangements 

Under section 90 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, relevant parents and other bodies have the right to object to the Schools Adjudicator about admission arrangements after the arrangements have been determined. Admission authorities must determine their arrangements by 28 February in the year preceding the admission year, i.e. before they take effect.

Determined admission arrangements for 2024-2025

Cheshire West and Chester Cabinet determined the local authority's 2024-2025 admission arrangements and coordinated admissions scheme on 8 February 2023 in accordance with the statutory requirements of the school admissions code which states that admission authorities must determine their arrangements by 28 February.

Consultation for September 2023-2024 school admission arrangements

Cheshire West and Chester local authority is consulting on its school admission arrangements for 2023-2024 academic year. Consultation will take place between 17 November 2021 and 5 January 2022 in accordance with the timescales published in the School Admissions Code, September 2021.

Once the consultation period has closed, any responses received by 5 January 2022 will be reviewed and considered. The final admission arrangements policy will be determined by 28 February 2022 and published on this page

Schools adjudicators

Adjudicators work independently of the Secretary of State for Education and Skills in deciding on objections to published admission arrangements and variations of determined admission arrangements.
