Fostering and adoption

Overview

If you're thinking of becoming a foster carer, we have competitive fees and a thorough foster carer induction programme that will guide you through preapproval and along the entire journey.

We also use the Mockingbird model of fostering. Mockingbird is an evidence-based model structured around the support and relationships an extended family provides. The foster carers are supported to build a resilient and caring community of six to ten satellite families called a constellation. This improves the chances of success in fostering and positive outcomes for the children and young people involved.

We have been working closely with some neighbouring councils in the region to provide a fostering recruitment service known as Foster4 and a regional adoption agency known as Together for Adoption.

If you think you could offer a stable and loving home to a local child in care and would like some further information about how we can support you along your fostering or adoption journey please visit:

Foster4Together for adoption

The collaborative projects aim to build on our previous successes and recruit more foster carers and adoptive families.
