Team around the family
TAF stands for 'Team Around the Family'.
A Team Around the Family (TAF) meeting is a way of bringing together you, your family, and the professionals who are supporting you to make sure everyone is working towards the same goals. The purpose of a TAF is to identify what is working well within your family, understand any challenges you may be facing, and agree on what support may help improve things for you and your family.
How can we help you?
A TAF recognises that families have many strengths and aims to build on these, while also identifying any areas where additional support may be helpful. Together, the people involved will create a plan that focuses on what matters most to your family, who can help, and what actions need to be taken to achieve positive outcomes.
The meeting provides an opportunity for everyone to share their views, listen to each other, and work together to find solutions. You and your family should be involved throughout the process, and your wishes and feelings will be an important part of any plans that are made.
If you feel that you and your family would benefit from a TAF, you can speak to any professional who is working with you. This might be a teacher, family support worker, youth worker, health professional, or another trusted practitioner. They can discuss this with you and help arrange the appropriate support. TAF is everybody’s business. All professionals working with children and their families in west Cheshire are responsible for completing TAFs.
