Stanney Fields Park

Stanney Fields Park has been awarded Green Flag status, a prestigious award which is the national benchmark for parks and open spaces. This indicates that the park has fulfilled the judging criteria and is a safe, welcoming and well maintained park offering a range of recreational and leisure opportunities for people of all ages.

Set in the heart of Neston town centre, the park is easily accessible by its five entrance points making it a great place for relaxing; playing sport; walking your dog and family picnics. It has its own on site gardener, an active Friends group and a regular programme of events including sports coaching sessions, annual fun day and dog show.

The dell is planted with shrubs and specimen trees. Stanney Brook which runs through the dell adds to the relaxing atmosphere of this area of the park. 

Facilities

The park has two areas providing stimulating play opportunities for children up to the age of 12 years. There is also:

• a multi-use games area (MUGA) for casual sports activities such as football, basketball, netball and hockey
• a wheels park with a quarter pipe, jump combo and wedge/flatbank which is ideal for BMX bikes, skateboards and roller blades
• a sports viewing shelter for spectators

Parking and accessibility

The park has some limited parking. The nearest public car park in Neston is Chester Road. Parking is also available off Bridge Street / Station Road. The park is a short walk away.

Most areas of the park are open access and wheelchair friendly except for some pathways in the Dell area. Accessible toilet facilities are available on site by the play area. Opening times are displayed on the door.

Further information

The Field of Hope was established in 2001 in conjunction with Marie Curie Cancer Care. Thousands of daffodil bulbs were planted by the community and can be enjoyed each spring.Dogs are welcome in most areas of the park except the play areas, bowling green and Wheels Park. All dog owners are requested to clean up after their pets. Dog bins are located throughout the park. Motor vehicles are not allowed on site except for authorised use.

Exploring further afield

Step back in time at Hadlow Road Station, where the waiting room and ticket office have been restored to look as they might have in the 1950s. From here you can walk, cycle or ride up to Parkgate, with several picnic stops along the Wirral Way.
