Wades Clough

Wades Clough is an area of semi-natural ancient woodland within a stream valley located within a residential estate in Winsford. Part of the site is designated as a Site of Biological Importance (SBI), recognising its local value in terms of the wildlife that the woodland supports.

There is a wide variety of tree species including oak, ash and willow with an understorey of hazel, hawthorn and elder. The ground flora includes bluebells, wild arum, dog's mercury and ferns.

Access to the site from Winsford is via Grange Lane, turning east into Buttermere Road and then by pedestrian access to the top of the study area, off Ambleside Close, or to the bottom, from Tarn Close.
