Unearthed: The Power of Gardening is a free British Library exhibition which will be touring Cheshire West and Chester Libraries from May 2025 to March 2026, exploring the transformative, enriching and sometimes radical power of gardening.
The exhibition will be at Chester Library at Storyhouse for the whole of June.

Help keep your neighbourhood looking good and borrow a litter-picking kit from the library. Kit includes a litter-picker, a high vis vest and bags. Free to loan on your library card. Don’t have a library card? Join today

Thursday 19 June, 7pm: An evening with Simon McCleave
Join us for an evening with multi million selling crime novelist Simon McCleave. His first book 'Snowdonia Killings' was released in January 2020 and soon became an Amazon bestseller, reaching No. 1 in the UK chart. 'The Dark Tide,' Simon's first book in the Anglesey based crime series, published by Harper Collins, was a major hit in 2022.
'Wirral Killings', is now available in libraries, soon to be followed by 'Abersoch Killings' later on in the year. The Snowdonia based book is now set to be filmed as a major new television series.
Tickets are £7 and are available via Ticketsource - an evening with Simon McCleave, Thursday 19 June at 7pm.
Refreshments will be available to purchase (cash only).

Thursday 31 July, 7pm: An evening with Katy Watson
Join us for an evening celebrating the Golden Age of crime fiction with a modern twist, as we welcome Katy Watson, bestselling author of The Three Dahlias series. The Three Dahlias is an addictively readable cosy crime, Her latest book 'A Deadly Night at the Theatre' is published July 2025.
Katy’s entertaining and hugely enjoyable cosy crime books will be available to purchase on the night from The Curious Cat Bookshop. Doors open at 6.30pm. Wine and other refreshments will be available to purchase (cash only).This is an Adults Read Two event.

Throughout the week there will be a seed swap, litter picking bingo, a treasure hunt, quiz and fun games to learn all about recycling.
All Week - During Great Big Green Week why not drop off your unwanted wellington boots to Hope Farm library and find your next pair. Don’t have any to swap? That’s fine, come along and grab a pair anyway. All unwanted items will become the property of the library.
Tuesday 9 June, 10.30am - 11.30am: Storytime & craft for pre-school children with a green theme. Book a place at the library.

Thursday 12 June, 7.30pm: Gus Glyn routes to classics
We are delighted to welcome Cheshire artist Gus Glynn back to Little Sutton Library to perform his show Routes to Classics. This show is a music lover's must.
Classically trained fingerstyle guitarist, Gus, traces the development of the music we love today from its roots in traditional folk and blues, right through to contemporary classics and all-time favourites.
Journey through Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Carole King, Mark Knopfler, Lou Reed, John Lennon and Turlough O'Carolan. Visit modern favourites from artists such as Amy Winehouse and Arctic Monkeys all with a selection of pit stops along the way as Gus showcases his own songs.

Thursday 7 August, 6.30pm: Figure on the Pier: A Ghost Story from Weeping Bank Library
Weeping Bank brings engaging, candlelit performances of ghost stories to community spaces, creating intimate and unique experiences for both avid and reluctant readers, gothic horror fans and lovers of traditional storytelling.
Please note Weeping Bank events contain moments of heightened tension and are unsuitable for many under 15 and those of a nervous disposition.
