Mid Cheshire Plan
What is the Mid Cheshire Plan?
The Mid Cheshire Plan is a strategy to guide the future economic regeneration of Mid Cheshire.
The aim of the Plan is to bring more economic investment and development opportunities to Northwich, Winsford and the surrounding rural areas. This will build on previous public and private investment, accelerate the progression of regeneration schemes that will help to create successful places and build consensus amongst partners on delivering future economic growth.
Why do we need a Plan?
Improving places where people live, work and spend their leisure time involves many different stakeholders over the long term. The Mid Cheshire Plan helps to set out a direction for Northwich, Winsford, Middlewich, surrounding villages and rural areas that businesses, organisations and groups can all get behind and provide benefits for the people who live, work and spend time in the area.
The boundary of Mid Cheshire is fuzzy rather than fixed, and we recognise that people live across local authority boundaries and have actively included Middlewich within Cheshire East.
The Plan will guide future investment and development within the area and will involve public, private and community sectors working together to deliver it. The Plan also positions Mid Cheshire well to take advantage of any future funding that may be available.
What happens next?
As part of the Plan, the structure of the former Mid Cheshire Board has been redefined.
In early 2025, a new group is being established and will be known as the Mid Cheshire Partnership. This will be made up of a variety of organisations who will work together to deliver the Plan and drive forward progress for Mid Cheshire. The Partnership will work with a wide range of key stakeholders to help the Plan to become reality.
It will provide a place where Mid Cheshire can be championed and link into the wider network of public, private and voluntary sectors. It will also provide a platform to ensure that the Mid Cheshire area is linked into wider discussions across the sub region.
Further updates will be available on this page as the Plan progresses.
Mid Cheshire needs you!
A Chairperson to lead the new Mid Cheshire Partnership has recently been appointed.
The Partnership is an independent organisation which will play an advisory role to the Council on matters affecting the Mid Cheshire area. It aims to drive forward economic ambitions, unlock fresh opportunities and raise the profile of Mid Cheshire.
We are now beginning the process of recruiting the rest of the new board who will work alongside the Chairperson to drive forward the development of the area. It is likely that the Board will adopt a task and finish group style of working.
In the recruitment of the Board we are particularly keen to ensure that different skills sets and experience are represented. We welcome applications from the following areas of expertise:
- Business leader
- Health
- Skills provision
- Transport
- Social Housing
- VCSE activity
We are looking for highly motivated individuals, who have the ability to form strong alliances and relationships across the public, private and voluntary sector and are passionate about the opportunities and potential in Mid Cheshire.
