Community Flood Resilience Planning

Flood water management

A key theme of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 is for authorities to work in partnership to deliver flood risk management better to the benefit their communities. To achieve this, it is imperative that all agencies, riparian owners, property owners and land owners do what they can to make this happen.

If your community is at risk of flooding and you would like to establish a community Flood Community Resilience plan, we are able to offer any help, support and guidance. Please email LLFA@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk to discuss further.

Further information can be found on our flood risk management strategy page.

Flood action groups

Flood action groups are voluntary groups of local residents who meet on a regular basis to work on behalf of the wider community to help to try and reduce the impact of future flood events.

The focus of the group can be based around emergency planning and can also tackle local issues, whilst providing a unified voice for the community to communicate ideas and queries to others. If you'd like to start up your own flood action group for your community, help and support establishing a new group can be found on the Flood Hub website.

Flood Risk Action Group (FRAG)

We have established a Flood Risk Action Group (FRAG) following the major flood event in January 2021.
