Corporate Governance

Foreword

We are pleased to endorse this updated Code of Corporate Governance, which sets out the commitment of Cheshire West and Chester Council to continue to uphold the highest possible standards of good governance. This must be at the heart of everything that we do. This document clearly demonstrates our drive to ensure that this is in place.

Strong governance leads to high standards of management, performance, stewardship of public money, public engagement and, ultimately, positive outcomes for citizens and service users. Robust governance enables an authority to pursue its vision effectively as well as underpinning that vision with mechanisms for control and management of risk.

Good governance is about how the Council ensures that it is doing the right things, in the right way, for the communities it serves, in a timely, inclusive, open, honest and accountable way.
