Planning and paying for your care and support

If you have more than £23,250 in savings or other capital, you usually won’t be eligible for financial help from us to pay for your care. This means you would need to arrange and pay for your own care directly with the care provider.

When someone pays for all of their own care in this way, they are called a “self‑funder,” which means they fund their own care without financial support from us.

More information and instructions about the Online Financial Assessment tool and how to use it can be found on our Financial assessment calculator page.

On the Live Well Cheshire West website you can find details of local support organisations in your area, to help you arrange your care and support.

Support to plan and pay for your own care

Is traditional home care what you need?

Whilst many of us are used to traditional forms of care for example ‘Domiciliary care’ or ‘Home care’ there are thousands of other options available to you in your community.

  • Perhaps you would like to have some company, get out and socialise?
  • Maybe you need some equipment to keep you safe and supported in your home which can help you maintain your own independence?
  • Would you consider moving home to somewhere that is more suitable?
  • Maybe you could do with someone who could take you on days out, help you around the home with cleaning, DIY and gardening or help you with paperwork

Why not explore some different options.

Small good stuff

The Small Good Stuff website, hosted by Community Catalysts, showcases a wide range of everyday services provided by local people. These include support with personal care, decluttering, dog walking, help with paperwork, and much more. New services are added every week, and the directory covers the whole borough, making it easy for residents to find trusted, community‑based support close to home.
