A51 Hoole Lane, Boughton, Chester

Junction Improvement and Traffic Signal Upgrade

  • Start date: Monday 13 July
  • Duration: Approximately 8 weeks
A51 Hoole Lane

About the scheme

We will be upgrading the traffic signals at the A51 Hoole Lane junction as part of an ongoing programme to replace ageing equipment and reduce the risk of signal failures.

While the signals are being replaced, we will also improve the junction and pedestrian facilities to bring them up to current standards.

What work is taking place?

The scheme includes:

  • Installation of new traffic signal equipment and cabling
  • New ducting, chambers and sockets
  • Upgrades to splitter islands, dropped crossings and kerbs
  • New tactile paving to improve accessibility
  • Carriageway resurfacing before the new signals are switched on

These works will require excavation of both the carriageway and footways.

Traffic management

The work has been scheduled during the summer school holidays to help minimise disruption.

Lane closures and road closures will be required at different stages of the programme.

At the start of the scheme:

  • Lane closures will be in place on the A51
  • Hoole Lane will be closed at the junction
  • Access to Hoole Lane will be from the A41 and exit will be via Westminster Rd
  • Arrangements will be in place for larger vehicles

We will provide regular updates on this page throughout the works.

Thank you for your patience

We appreciate that these works may cause some disruption. Thank you for your patience and support while we carry out these essential improvements to make the junction safer, more reliable and more accessible for everyone.
