A540 Raby Park Road junction improvements
Latest update
Works are currently going well and to programme.
The first phase of works was almost completed a couple of weeks ago on Section one (Chester/southeast corner of Raby Park Road) with just footway construction currently being completed. Work is ongoing on Section two (Wirral/southwest side) to carry out excavation works for the carriageway widening, construction and installation of new drainage.
As there is a level difference from the existing carriageway to the working area, for health and safety reasons, the temporary traffic signals must remain in place around this area of works to allow single lane traffic to pass.
The next few weeks
Construction works are to mainly continue under the same set up as current working:
Excavation and construction work will continue to both corners of the Raby Park Road area of the junction.
During May Bank Holiday week when schools are closed (26 to 30 May), we are looking to take advantage of lower traffic volumes and minimise disruption impact, so will have a full road closure again of Raby Park Road to carry out works on the new tie-ins for kerbing and footways. This will be re-opened to one-way in traffic after the half term on 2 June.

A one-way in only set up is in place. There is a closure to vehicles from the sports centre access up to the A540 with no access out of Raby Park Road at this location onto the A540.
Please note: through the May Bank Holiday school half term, Raby Park Road will have a full road closure in place with no access in or out of this junction – this is to be re-opened to the one-way inbound traffic after the half term.
Upper Raby Road
A one-way in only set up is in place. There is a closure to vehicles from the farm access up to the A540 with no access out of Raby Park Road at this location onto the A540.
