Warm, Welcoming Spaces

The Council is working with a number of Council services, Council-owned organisations and local community groups to offer residents in the borough access to Warm, Welcoming Spaces this winter.

These spaces will be free for residents of all ages to use during their stated opening times and will provide a space where people can stay warm and safe.

Libraries

Library staff and volunteers will be providing a friendly welcome to residents who wish to make use of the library space.

Residents visiting the Warm, Welcoming Spaces can enjoy refreshments and also make use of the library services if they wish.

  • Take part in regular events and activities that are taking place in the library
  • Join the library for free and take advantage of the wide range of books, eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines
  • Free access to WiFi and public computers

Some Warm Welcoming Spaces in the libraries will be open all day and some for shorter periods. Details of opening times can be found on individual library pages:

Grosvenor Museum, Chester

Museum staff will provide a friendly welcome to anyone wishing to use their Warm, Welcoming Space this winter. Hot and cold drinks and snacks are available to purchase.

The Lion Salt Works, Northwich

Residents can use the Warm, Welcoming Space at the museum's café and shop area this winter. Hot and cold drinks and snacks are available to purchase.

Brio Leisure

Residents can keep warm in the cafés at the Northgate Arena, Ellesmere Port Sports Village, Northwich Memorial Court and Winsford Lifestyle Centre this winter.

Opening times: Monday to Friday 8am until 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am until 3.30pm.

Expanding the network

Working with Cheshire West Voluntary Action and Cheshire Community Action, and the wider voluntary and community sector, the Council is exploring opportunities to expand the network, and provide services to support people using the Warm Welcoming Spaces.
