Local land charges

Overview

Please send requests by email to: llc@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk. Our current turnaround time is 10 working days.

Our Local Land Charge team is responsible for maintaining and providing access to the statutory register. This register holds information against properties that fall within the definition of a local land charge and its purpose is to provide a common public place where any restrictions or prohibitions on land or properties in the borough can be recorded.

Where to find help

Who uses our service

Most commonly we are contacted by conveyancers/solicitors who carry out the search on behalf of their client. They are acting on behalf of the public who are buying, selling or remortgaging their home. It is possible to complete a local authority search as a member of the public but requesting an official local authority search from your solicitor will provide you with the same document.

Please be aware that some conveyancers/solicitors use third party companies to carry out searches on their behalf. These companies do not always request official local authority searches from the council. The insurance for this type of document then differs and the council can not be held responsible for the answers they provide or the time it takes to complete the search.

Types of searches we provide

The most commonly requested search from ourselves is an official local authority search (LLC1 and Con29R Forms). The cost of these are:

  • £96.30 for a residential property
  • £123 for a commercial property

We do provide other types of searches which can be chosen from, depending on what it is you want from the search. For example, you can just search the LLC Register using an LLC1 form. For a full list of options please see our search applications page.
