Public toilets

Public toilets

Access to clean and safe toilet facilities is essential for the wellbeing of our community.

Many of our public toilets include accessible features, with some requiring a RADAR key for entry.

All public toilets are cleaned at least once daily, and where possible, include disabled access and baby changing areas.

Use the map below to find your nearest public toilet, view available facilities, and get location details.

Accessible toilets with RADAR

Across Cheshire West and Chester, and throughout the UK, many accessible public toilets are fitted with a RADAR lock. To use these facilities, you’ll need a special RADAR key, which comes in two styles:

  • Silver (older version)
  • Blue heart fob (newer version)

These locks and keys are part of the National Key Scheme (NKS), which aims to:

  • Provide disabled people with independent access to locked public toilets nationwide
  • Help ensure accessible toilets remain clean, secure, and available for those who genuinely need them

Learn more about the RADAR scheme at Disability Rights UK.

Where to Get a RADAR Key

You can purchase a RADAR key from the following local organisations or through trusted online retailers:

DIAL West Cheshire, Chester

Shopmobility, Chester

  • Location: Frodsham Street Car Park, Chester, CH1 3JH
  • Phone: 01244 312626

Please note: While RADAR keys are available online, only genuine keys are guaranteed to work with all RADAR locks. Imitation keys may not function properly and could damage the lock.

If you’d prefer to purchase a key online, we recommend that you buy a RADAR key from Disability Rights UK.

Toilet Access Cards

If you have a medical condition that requires urgent or frequent toilet use, you can request a free “Just Can’t Wait” card from the Bladder & Bowel Community.

This discreet card is widely recognised and helps you access toilets quickly and confidently when you're out and about.
