Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2022-2025

Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA)

We would like to hear your views on the draft Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2022-2025 (PNA).

The PNA is a statutory document produced every three years to assess whether the provision of pharmacies and pharmaceutical services in Cheshire West and Chester is sufficient to meet the current and future needs of the local population. The PNA is mainly used by NHS England to ensure robustness in the awarding of new pharmacies and adjustment of existing pharmacy contracts.

The draft PNA must undergo a 60 day statutory consultation. This will run from 24 March to 25 May 2022.

What will my feedback be used for?

Your feedback is important as it will be used to help finalise the PNA which will be in place for the next three years.

Following consultation, responses will be reviewed by the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment multi-professional steering group, which includes representatives from the Local Authority, Clinical Commissioning Group, Local Pharmaceutical Committee, Local Pharmaceutical Professional Network, Local Medical Committee, and Healthwatch. The PNA will be amended as appropriate and the final PNA will include responses to the consultation (no person will be identifiable), the response to this feedback by the steering group and/or Health and Wellbeing Board, and a list of amendments or changes subsequently made to the PNA.

What happens next?

Once the draft PNA is reviewed and updated by the PNA Steering Group, this revised PNA will be presented to the Health and Wellbeing Board for comment and final approval at their Summer 2022 meeting.

The final version of the PNA will be published 1 October 2022 and will be available to view on the website by visiting either:
