Dee Banks School – Increase the number of school places via Satellite site consultation

Background

Cheshire West and Chester Council has a statutory duty to ensure a sufficiency of Special Educational Need school places.

The Council, in partnership with the school wish to permanently increase the number of school places to enable the temporary increase in school numbers, established in September 2024, to be made permanent.

The Consultation

In order to continue to provide SEN provision for our local community, and the school having successfully implemented this increase on a temporary basis, the Council and the school now propose to hold an informal stage of consultation.

The five week consultation period will run from the 12 May 2025 to midnight 16 June 2025.

You can give your views on the proposal by either:

These will need to be completed and returned to us by the closing date, midnight of the 16 June 2025.

What happens next?

Council Officers will share all consultation responses received with the Council’s Director of Children and Families, who will then decide whether the proposal should continue to the formal publication stage.

If so, a statutory Public Notice will be published, setting out Cheshire West and Chester Council’s intent to permanently increase the capacity of the school. It is anticipated that the notice will be published in July 2025.

After the date of publication there will be a four-week period in which anyone can make a representation to the Council. After considering all representations the Council will decide whether or not to proceed with the proposal. It is anticipated that a decision will be made by August 2025.
