Councillors' code of conduct
Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council has adopted a Code of Conduct to promote and maintain high standards of conduct and underpin public confidence in the authority and its members and co-opted members. The Councillors Code of Conduct is in Section G1A of the Council's Constitution.
The code has been adopted under section 27 of the Localism Act 2011 and is based on the following core principles of public life - selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. It sets out general obligations about the standards of conduct expected of members and co-opted members of the authority, together with provisions about registering and declaring interests.
The Code sets out the obligations on members for registering the mandatory disclosable pecuniary Interests as well as other non-pecuniary interests and gifts and hospitality. The register of Interests for each member can be viewed under:
