Get Cheshire Eating Well Strategy 2026-2031
Foreword
Cllr Lisa Denson, Chair of Eat Well be Active and Cabinet Member for a Fairer Future, Cheshire West and Chester Council:
Eating well is one of the most important foundations of good health, but we know that many residents face barriers that make healthy eating difficult. This strategy recognises that improving nutrition is not simply about providing information – it is about creating the right conditions, environments and support systems that help people make healthier choices in everyday life. Delivery of this strategy will take effort from partners at all levels, across all sectors and all localities. Eating well is so important that it needs to be built into people’s daily lives, whether at nursery, school, college, work, home and importantly when they are in care settings. Key to the delivery of this strategy are health colleagues, workplaces, education, leisure, food producers and retailers, community organisations, volunteers, friends and family – we all have a part to play. By working together across organisations, communities and neighbourhoods, we can make healthy food more accessible, affordable and sustainable, while helping to reduce health inequalities and improve wellbeing for people of all ages across Cheshire West and Chester.
