2.3.3 Tree maintenance
Key to the success of a planting scheme is a proper programme of aftercare and maintenance. For new trees in the public highway, the developer will be responsible for maintenance during the establishment phase (0-5 years), after which the trees will be the responsibility of the Council.
The developer must pay a commuted sum for all new and existing trees that will be adopted by the Council.
Developers must submit a management and maintenance plan for all new and retained trees, hedges, SuDS, and all other soft landscape works. This must be in accordance with BS 5837:2012 and other relevant British Standards, covering a minimum period of five years after planting. Management and maintenance plans are required for all public areas, both adopted and unadopted.
