Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grants

The Government announced a new scheme to support hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses in England who are liable for business rates and were trading as of 31 December 2021.

The scheme is a one-off grant called Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grants and the amount a business receives will depend on their rateable value.

The Council is following Government guidance for the scheme:

You will need the following before you start:

  • Your Business Rates Account Reference Number (this will be on your bill).
  • Copy of your most recent company bank statement (with the name of business/ratepayer; address; sort code and account number).
  • Details of your company/VAT registration number as shown with Companies house/HMRC.
  • Details of any other grants you received relating to COVID-19.

Apply online for the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grants

The application window is only available until 28 February 2022 and we cannot consider late applications or those from third parties.

Even if you have received a business support grant before you must apply again, and your business must meet the following:

  • Liable for business rates on the 31 December 2021, and
  • Trading on the 31 December 2021, and
  • Have not exceeded the maximum permitted subsidy allowances, and
  • Are not in administration, insolvent or a striking-off notice has been made.

Hospitality

A business whose main function is to provide a venue for the consumption and sale of food and drink.

Leisure

A business that provides opportunities, experiences and facilities, in particular for culture, recreation, entertainment, celebratory events, days and nights out, betting and gaming.

Accommodation

A business whose main lodging provision is used for holiday, travel and other purposes.

Omicron Additional Restrictions Grant

On 21 December 2021, Government announced the introduction of grant support for businesses in England that are experiencing difficulties because of the Omicron variant, and the dual impact of staff absences and lower consumer demand. This was announced at the same time as the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant which supports businesses in those sectors and have a rateable value on their premises.

The Council is limiting payments from its Additional Restrictions Grant scheme to support businesses who are not eligible for support through the Government's Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant Scheme or Restart Grant scheme.

  • Copy of three company bank statement one for each of the periods (with the name of business/ratepayer; address; sort code and account number):
    • April - June 2021
    • July - September 2021
    • October - December 2021
  • Details of your company/VAT registration number as shown with Companies house/HMRC.
  • Details of any other grants you received relating to COVID-19.

Even if you have received a business support grant before you must apply again, and your business must meet the following:

  • Be trading
  • Have not exceeded the maximum permitted subsidy allowances, and
  • Are not in administration, insolvent or a striking-off notice has been made.
