Information for people who have been shielding
Government has advised that from 1 August shielded individuals can:
- go to work (if you cannot work from home) as long as the business is COVID-safe;
- go outside to buy food, to places of worship and for exercise whilst maintaining strict social distancing.
Shielded individuals should remain cautious as they are still greatest risk of infection from COVID-19. Advice is still to stay at home where possible and, if you do go out, follow strict social distancing.
From 31 July the Government food parcels will no longer be delivered to shielded people who have previously requested them as the shielding programme is paused. If you are currently in receipt of weekly Government food parcels, the Council will contact you to ensure you have access to food after 1 August.
Support will continue to be available through NHS Volunteer Responders including a new ‘Check in and Chat Plus’ service.
Guidance for those in the most vulnerable groups
The Council has set up a Community Fund of £250,000 to help local causes as west Cheshire aims to fight COVID-19 together.
This Community Fund will help new community initiatives when they are setting up, as well as those more established groups that will continue to provide valuable services during the fight against COVID-19.
