Funded childcare hours for 3 and 4 year olds

From the term after your child turns three years old all families can access up to 15 hours of funded childcare, this is known as the Universal Entitlement.

To access this provision parents and carers should contact their preferred childcare provider about their availability, they will then ask for proof of the child’s age prior to start your funded place. Please note, funding can only commence from the start of a term unless there is an exceptional circumstance as to why this is not possible e.g. moving to the area.

Eligible working families can apply for up to an additional 15 hours of funded childcare referred to as the Extended Entitlement. Parents and carers will need to apply for an eligibility code through the Childcare Choices website. There is also additional information on what can be expected when accessing funded childcare and other schemes that may help parents and carers with the cost of childcare.
