Household support fund

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has launched a new Household Support Grant to support residents most in need with food, energy, water and wider essential costs this winter.

We have ring-fenced over 50% of the fund to support families with children which will be distributed via schools and academies for households with children in receipt of free school meals.

Funding allocation is based on £35 per child in receipt of free school meals per week during the Christmas holiday, February half term and Easter break. Eligible children and families will be contacted by their education provider who will be issuing the vouchers prior to each of the eligible school holiday periods.

Additional help and support

We are currently working with partner organisations to develop a package of support for those most in need, supporting what we already have in place to help vulnerable households and individuals. This will help them to meet the cost of support for food, fuel and other wider essentials over the coming months as the country continues its recovery from the pandemic.
