Applications received after the closing date of 31 October 2026 will be considered after all on time applications, unless the Council considers that there are good reasons for the application being late, which must be stated at the time of application, i.e. exceptional medical reasons preventing an earlier application. Supporting documentation must be provided. This includes any changes made after the closing date for an on time application.

Where supporting documentation has been received by 11 December 2026 and the Council has accepted reasons stated for the application being late or a late change, the application will be considered as if it had been received by the closing date and you will be notified of this decision by 15 January 2027 .

If your supporting documentation was received within this timeframe and you do not hear from us by 15 January 2027, this means your application has been reviewed and determined that it does not meet the requirements for on-time consideration. Your application will therefore proceed as a late application.

Applications, supporting documentation and changes received after the 11 December 2026 will be considered after 1 March 2027, even where the Council accepts that there are good reasons for the late application as the allocation of school places will have begun.

Where late applications are received for places at aided schools, free schools or academies in Cheshire West and Chester, the Council will notify the admissions authority that the application has been received late.

Parents and carers are responsible for notifying the Council of the reasons for a late application. Any applications received after the closing date of 31 October 2026 that do not provide reasons for consideration by the Council will be treated as late applications and considered after all on time application.

Any applications or changes received after 15 July 2027 will not be processed until schools return in Septem­ber, therefore you will not receive an outcome until after this date.
