Mutual exchange

You cannot apply if:

• you are on a starter tenancy (usually lasting 12 months)
• you want to swap with a private landlord’s tenant
• you have previously been evicted by Cheshire West and Chester Council
• your current home has more bedrooms than the new household requires
• your home has specialist adaptations that the incoming tenant does not need
• you live in sheltered or supported accommodation and the incoming tenant does not meet the criteria

You can apply if:

• you are a Cheshire West and Chester Council tenant with a secure or assured tenancy
• your rent account is clear (unless a prior arrangement has been made)
• your home is in good condition
• you are not currently involved in any anti-social behaviour cases
• you are swapping with another social housing tenant (housing association or council tenant)
