Gypsies and Travellers

Below is a list of unauthorised encampments in the Cheshire and Warrington area. These are shown by Council area.

Each unauthorised encampment is given a name based on where it was first reported. The exact location of the encampment may be somewhere nearby. Similarly, there may be a slightly different number of caravans reported when the group first arrive. There is a procedure for dealing with encampments and the information is updated as this progresses. If you have checked the list below and want to tell us about a new encampment, please use our reporting form.

Cheshire West and Chester

The Travellers Rest, Kingsley road, Frodsham

• Current Status: We've had an update that the group isn't an unauthorised encampment.
• Notes: Likely Private land.

Land off Rilshaw Lane, Winsford

• Arrived 03 April 2026
• Current Status: Initial assessment will be carried out.
• Notes: Private land.

Oil Sites Road, Temporary stopping place, Ellesmere Port

• Arrived 13 April 2026
• Current Status: Initial assessment will be carried out.
• Notes: Council land.
• Information updated: 13 April 2026, 4.25pm
