Winsford industrial estate
Winsford Gateway is a significant business hub at Junction 18 of the M6.
30 hectares of employment land have been unlocked following infrastructure investment funded by the Council and Local Growth Fund.
Demand from businesses wanting to move to the estate and from existing businesses looking to grow their premises has led to its physical expansion in 2022.
As part of this expansion, great crested newts have been moved from the site to a new location in the town at Clay Lane and ecology management is in place.
Construction is now complete, and the facilities are now open on a petrol filling station with EV charging points and bespoke HGV facilities. It includes a Costa Express, Subway and Greggs. A car valet service is also available. Self-storage operator Rent a Space is also opening in Winsford Gateway.
The Council continues to support existing business at Winsford Gateway, helping them to grow as well as providing business advice.
Salt Trucks

The Salt Trucks at the roundabout of the junction of Road One/Bostock Road in Winsford will be restored to their former glory as part of work that Cheshire West and Chester Council has organised.
They have become a much-loved installation, but need restoration work due to their age. In response to community feedback, the trucks will be restored on-site, instead of temporarily being taken off-site. Road closures will be avoided unless absolutely necessary, and disruption will be kept to a minimum.
The Salt Trucks were originally constructed in 2003 for an RHS Tatton Park Flower display. They recreate a traditional scene from inside Winsford Salt Mine and feature the two-reproduction battery-driven salt carriages to create a traditional scene from inside a mine.
They represent the long traditional history of salt mining and production in the area and a reminder of Winsford’s vital contribution to the salt industry in Cheshire.
The Salt Trucks are cherished by the community, which is why we have organised the restoration project.
