A540 Raby Park Road junction improvements

Background

This scheme has been in development for a number of years following a fatal accident at the junction.

An action group, A54Zero, was set-up to push for improvements at this junction and the Council has been working closely with them. Road safety concerns will be addressed by widening the existing highway to install additional traffic signals, including a controlled pedestrian crossing on every leg of the junction and modifications to the street lighting systems.

Latest update

As previously informed, the land required for this improvement scheme has now been purchased and tree removal for the proposed works has been completed. United Utilities diverted their water main in April and we are in discussions with Cadent Gas for them to confirm dates to programme their gas main diversion work.

Unfortunately, we are unable to programme the main construction work until we have firmed up dates of the gas utility diversion - which we are hoping to update on soon.
