A540 Raby Park Road junction improvements

Background

This scheme has been in development for a number of years following a fatal accident at the junction.

An action group, A54Zero, was set-up to push for improvements at this junction and the Council has been working closely with them. Road safety concerns will be addressed by widening the existing highway to install additional traffic signals, including a controlled pedestrian crossing on every leg of the junction and modifications to the street lighting systems.

Detailed designs and contract drawings for the scheme are completed.

Before any works can take place we need to have a land purchase in place. This has taken longer than expected but it is being pushed forward as quickly as possible.

Utility companies will need to divert some of their apparatus prior to main construction beginning too.
