NextGenTravel
Overview
The NextGenTravel scheme goes live on Monday 5 October, but you can apply today.
NextGenTravel is a discount scheme for young people aged 16 to 19 who live within the borough.
With the pass, you can travel for £1 per single journey across all participating local bus services, as long as your journey is within, starts, or ends in Cheshire West and Chester.
NextGenTravel is part of a two year trial led by Cheshire West and Chester’s Enhanced Partnership and funded by UK Government.
Eligibility for the scheme
Anyone aged 16 to 19 who lives within the borough can apply for the NextGenTravel Pass.
The pass is valid until the day before your 20th birthday
Before applying
Before submitting an application, you need to ensure that you can provide the following:
For proof of identity and age, for example:
- a valid provisional/full driving licence photocard or;
- a valid passport or;
- a birth certificate
You will also need to provide:
- a clear passport style photograph of yourself that can be used on your bus pass
- your email address
What happens next?
Your bus pass will be valid until you reach your 20th birthday, or until the end of the schemes two year trial, whichever comes first.
Passes will be issued by post direct to your home usually within 21 days of receipt of your application.
If you haven’t received your pass within this time please contact us at Travelcard@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk or you may be charged for a replacement bus pass.
Lost/stolen pass
If you lose your bus pass you will need to pay a replacement fee. The charge for a replacement bus pass is £11.
Please note: this service is only for a NextGenTravel pass replacement.
Stolen passes will be replaced free of charge with a crime reference number issued by the police. Contact us at: Travelcard@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk to report a stolen pass, you will need to include your name, date of birth, your address and your crime reference number.
