Identity

6.4.5 Timber

Exposed timber frame buildings are found throughout Cheshire, making a strong contribution to local distinctiveness. Newly built exposed timber framed homes are encouraged.

SHOULD

On mock Tudor façade elements, care should be taken so that the timber appears integral to the building façade, rather than looking like a purely ornamental “stuck on” feature.

MUST

All timber must be natural, not composite or imitation.

MUST

In keeping with the style of existing timber framed homes, timber frames must be painted black or left with a natural finish.
