6.5.1 Roof design principles
The shape and material of roofs contribute to defining the character of a building.
SHOULD
Residential roofs should have a pitch between 30º and 50º and should maintain a consistent pitch range of 5º across the development
SHOULD
Secondary roofs should not have a steeper pitch than the pitch of the primary roof.
SHOULD
Flat-topped false pitched roofs should not be used.
SHOULD
Variety in roof forms should be incorporated into a layout of a development of over 50 dwellings to avoid a monotonous roofscape.
