Disruption to services due to high winds

Updated 21 December 2023 - 10.30am

Waste and recycling collections

The Waste and Recycling collection service is being affected by adverse weather conditions. Whilst scheduled collections will continue to be made, the current high winds may unfortunately result in spillages and containers being blown around.

Bins need to have their lids closed. Residents who still have boxes for recycling collections need to be present them with lids on to contain the materials. If you don't have a lid, please attempt to secure the items inside. Please do not put out loose/extra recycling next to your container if conditions are windy.

Whilst every effort will be made to collect spilt materials and return containers neatly once emptied, the collection crews will not have time to carry out extensive litter picks. Residents are advised to place out containers securely and collect them after emptying as soon as possible, returning any of their windblown waste to their bin/box if it is safe to do so. We ask those residents on a sack collection service to make sure bags are tied tightly and secured to a fixing (a gate for example) where possible.

If you do not have a lid for your box, these can be supplied free of charge upon request:
