Employment support for adults with disabilities
Our Disabilities Employment Officers offer a one to one support service through the Work Choice Programme to assist local residents with disabilities in accessing services, support groups, and funding that can help them in gaining and sustaining employment.
Our employment mentors provide one to one support through our Work Zones to help people in their search for employment. They can help you to navigate the journey across the range of courses and services on offer. They can support you in making the connections needed to ensure you have the right skills in place, and that you are able to ‘sell’ yourself effectively to employers, from having a good CV and application form, to delivering a good interview.
Our employment mentors can help you overcome any barriers that you might experience when looking for work, such as setting up email addresses and using email, or applying for work or training opportunities online, for example. They can offer advice and signposting to other specialist services to help you deal with any barriers that may be preventing you getting a job. They can also provide mock interview opportunities to help you gain the confidence to really demonstrate to employers why you are the best person for the job.
Employment mentors work on a one to one basis with you, helping you to identify and then work towards achieving, your goals. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer employment mentor yourself, please visit our skills and employment volunteering page.
