Stage 6: Issuing a Demand Notice

When you submit your Commencement Notice, we will issue a Demand Notice to the parties who have assumed liability to pay CIL. The notice will detail the dates that your CIL payments must be made. Where instalments apply, the Demand Notice will set out the amount due in each instalment and the date it must be paid by.

If work begins and you have not submitted an assumption of liability notice or a Commencement Notice is not received, we will withdraw the right to pay by instalments and payment will be due in full immediately.

If payment is not received by the dates stated in the instalment policy, we will impose penalty surcharges and interest. Payment of CIL is enforceable through the planning process and the courts.

Further information about our Instalments Policy can be found in the Instalments Policy section.
