Communities in action
Our ambition is to empower local people to come together to take more responsibility for the things that affect their life and their community.
By bringing together everyone who plays an active part in communities - to take up new ideas and tackle known and arising issues - we aim to share decision making with residents, community organisations, volunteers, charities, businesses, town and parish councils and chartered trustees.
If you would like to participate in this way in your local community, the Communities teams in your area can provide advice and support on how to achieve this. We can provide information and connect you to existing groups in your area, as well as providing guidance on how to establish residents' associations, friends of groups or community groups. We can also signpost to external partners that provide further support to help empower people within your community to help your community be an even better place to call home.
