4.5 Allotments, Orchards and Community Gardening
SHOULD
Where allotments, orchards and other types of community food growing areas are to be provided on-site, they should be thoughtfully integrated into the wider green infrastructure network, having an active interface with their surroundings. These features should not be located in isolated locations on the outer edge of sites where they do not benefit from natural surveillance.
SHOULD
'Edible landscapes' should be created to support healthier eating and awareness of food production. For example, through allotments, orchards and community gardens, or where space is limited through use of planters with edible crops.
