6.6.2 Window types

SHOULD

Primary windows should be sliding sash or side-hung casement windows (with or without inward-opening tilt/turn function).

SHOULD

Sash windows should be sliding sash. Mock-sash tilt or casement windows should not be used due to their poor ventilation.

COULD

Small secondary windows could be top-hung casement.

COULD

Side-hung casement windows could have a tilt-turn function opening inwards. Bottom hung inward opening windows are better able to vent hot air outwards.

SHOULD

Casement windows should be a flush type rather than storm-proof.
