6.6.3 Guard height and Part O Building Regulations

Recently introduced Part O Building Regulations have made window design more difficult and run the risk of leading to smaller, squat windows. These codes ensure windows which meet these regulations but still provide sufficient light to rooms.

SHOULD

To comply with Building Regulations for guard heights, a fixed lower pane or balustrade/railings should be used to allow for more glazing below 1100mm. Low, squat windows should not be used.
