Contact planning and building control
The services described on this page relate to informal planning advice. We will always try to help with general enquiries where we can, but it usually won't be possible to give detailed or definitive advice free of charge.
Pre-application advice service
If you are looking for detailed planning advice on a development scheme you are considering, this advice can be found on our pre-application advice service (charges may apply).
If you are looking for an update on a particular planning application, you can track progress using our search facility.
General planning advice service
Prior to speaking with a planning officer, we recommend you look at the permission and approval page and the pre-application advice page.
To ask a general planning question you can use the advice request form. This service is appropriate for:
- simple householder applications (for extensions, outbuildings, etc.)
- discharge of or compliance with planning conditions
- proposals requiring 'prior approval' or 'prior notification' under the Town and Country Planning (general permitted development) (England) Order 2015
Please provide some information to us about your query and a member of staff will contact you by email or phone. We will try to contact you within five working days between 9am and 5pm. If you have a particular requirement with regard to contact, please provide any information within the form.
Alternatively, you can contact us by phone on 0300 123 7027 and leave a message.
More complex issues should be the subject of formal pre-application advice, which is a chargeable service. You can find out more about this service on our pre-application advice page.
The planning and building consultancy teams can also be contacted by email.
Please post any paper correspondence, including paper application forms and supporting information, to Development Management, Cheshire West and Chester Council, The Portal, Wellington Road, Ellesmere Port, CH65 0BA.
