You may make payments for a variety of services, including Council Tax, using our secure site with most major credit or debit cards.

Check your Council Tax account balance

You can now register to access your Council Tax account information online using our self-service facility. Once registered you will be able to view details of your Council Tax bill including payments made and installments due and see any bills or notices we have sent to you.

Electronic bills

You can now sign up to receive your Council Tax or Business Rates bill by email through the online service facility. Log on to your account, select the account you wish to sign up for electonic billing and click on the ebilling sign up link on the account summary page. You can also use this facility to update your email address or revert to paper billing.

If you would like to sign up to receive your Council Tax bill by email without registering for self service please email us.

Please make sure you quote the account reference found on your Council Tax bill.

By Direct Debit

To set up a Direct Debit, telephone 0300 123 7 022 between 8am - 7pm (Monday - Friday). Please have your bank account details to hand. Alternatively, complete a Council Tax Direct Debit mandate form.

At the Post Office

You can pay your Council Tax at your local Post Office, there is no additional transaction fee for this service. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or debit card. When your bill arrives, you will notice a barcode, you should take this bill with you to the Post Office.

At a retail outlet using PayPoint

You can pay your Council Tax at your local retail store that displays a PayPoint sign. Payment can be made by cash only at these locations. When your bill arrives, you will notice a barcode, you should take this bill with you to the PayPoint outlet.

Internet, telephone banking or standing order

If you would like to set up a standing order or your bank allows you to access your bank account by phone or internet, the details you will need are:

  • sort code 30-91-92
  • account number 02895329

Alternatively, you can contact us and we will send you a Bankers order form.

By post

You can send cheques to Revenues and Benefits, PO Box 187, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, CH34 9DB. Please make cheques payable to Cheshire West and Chester Council. We do not accept postdated cheques.

If you're sending us anything, please make sure you quote your Council Tax Account reference.

  • You can pay with most debit and credit cards using our 24 hour payment line on 0300 123 7029.
